Flower City Work Camp is a ministry of Flower City Outreach, an organization that unites Rochester-area churches to deliver a range of services into the City of Rochester. Flower City Work Camp began in 1985 with a group of local youth leaders who had a desire to see their students serve in a meaningful inner-City ministry and a desire to impact the City of Rochester with the life-changing message of Christ’s love. Using a national model, they developed a Rochester-based ministry that reaches the City with God’s love in very practical ways.
Each year, students and adults from more than 50 churches serve improving homes, with teens at basketball and soccer camps and with younger children in neighborhood Sidewalk Clubs to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to some of the neediest areas of our city.
Flower City Work Camp serves through:
- Home repairs, including painting, flooring, simple construction, cleaning, yard work, and repairing or replacing ceilings, windows and doors
- Sidewalk Clubs, at which children play games, sing songs, make crafts, eat snacks and, most importantly, hear the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ
- Basketball camps where children and teens learn basketball skills, Bible verses and how much God loves them
- Prayer walks, during which campers bring the needs of our city before God
Not only does Work Camp provide students in Grades 7 through 12 with a tremendous opportunity to serve God, a lot of effort and planning is also put into challenging the students to grow in their faith. Morning devotions and evening programs filled with worship, prayer, testimonies and teaching are designed to bring students into the presence of God and send them home energized, changed and strengthened.
While students do much of the work, Work Camp is truly a ministry of the entire local church. Youth leaders, parents, pastors and other adults from participating churches are vital and required to make the ministry work. And there are many different opportunities for adults to serve, including as Site Leaders or Sidewalk Club Leaders, food prep and delivery, security, first aid, Home Base supervision and clean-up, or materials transportation.
Come celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ with Parkminster church! There will be song, celebration, friends, and fellowship!

Palm Sunday | 10:30 am service
Mack receives a note in his mailbox from "Papa", saying that he would like to meet with Mack that coming weekend at the shack. Mack is puzzled by the note—he has had no relationship with his abusive father since he left home at age 13. He suspects that the note may be from God, whom his wife Nan refers to as "Papa".
Mack's family leaves to visit relatives and he goes alone to the shack, unsure of what he will see there. He arrives and initially finds nothing, but as he is leaving, the shack and its surroundings are supernaturally transformed into a lush and inviting scene. He enters the shack and encounters manifestations of the three persons of the Trinity. God the Father takes the form of an African American woman who calls herself Elousia and Papa; Jesus Christ is a Middle-Eastern carpenter; and the Holy Spirit physically manifests as an Asian woman named Sarayu.
The bulk of the book narrates Mack's conversations with Papa, Jesus, and Sarayu as he comes to terms with Missy's death and his relationship with the three of them...

Ash Wednesday derives its name from the practice of blessing ashes made from palm branches blessed on the previous year's Palm Sunday, and placing them on the heads of participants to the accompaniment of the words "Repent, and believe in the Gospel" or "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return"

Parents of Youth Group, come and feel appreciated for being awesome! Let us serve you food, fill you with coffee (decaf, naturally, it's late, and we don't want to keep you up all night), play games with your teen, and meet each other! We hope you come and have fun as you learn about youth group, see the fruit of this ministry, and begin networking with each other.
Come cheer on the team you hate less at our SB 51 party! We'll provide the pizza, wings, soda, and dodgeball, you provide the friends! Per our tradition, we purposely avoid commercials and the half-time show because of their objectifying and sexist nature. We love football, but want to enjoy it in a life-giving and wholesome way! Hope to see you there!
If you want to submit your chili, sign up in the narthex, or sign up here! Be sure to bring your favorite family-friendly game, and join us for a fun night of fellowship and lots of chili! If you wish to be a judge, reach out to Dawn Stocks and let her know! We are asking for a $5 donation to help cover the costs of the drinks and snacks for the evening. You won't want to miss this awesome family event!
