The Blessing of Strong Elders

I’m finding myself very grateful for our elders lately. It says in 1 Timothy 5:17 "The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of a double honor."

Amen to that.

Over the last month our elders have been carrying out a wonderful and varied ministry that I want you to know about and appreciate. They have been fasting and praying for new vision for Parkminster, and gathering key leaders in our church to discern that vision. They have led the way in funding that vision, and have urged us all to join them. They have been budgeting, leading committees to hire new staff, teaching small groups, and leading KidBuilders. They administered the Lord’s Supper at Dan Wright’s bedside services, served at his and Debby Brown’s memorial services, all while continuing their normal duties at Sunday service. And they have cared for me as I have cared for the Wrights and the Browns.

Strong lay leadership is crucial to our church. We are blessed by our elders and I encourage you to thank them for their ministry.
